1. Visa

Any foreign visitor desiring to enter China must have a valid passport. A visa is required for citizens of countries that do not have visa exemption agreements with China. Please check with the relevant Chinese Embassy or Consulate for the entry requirements.

For attending our conference, you may need to apply for an F Visa. If you need a formal invitation letter for your visa application, please send a copy of your passport to Ms. Han Chen (chenhan722@hotmail.com), so that we can issue the invitation for you.

 

2. Transportation

1) Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH)

If you arrive at Hangzhou Airport, you may take a taxi or the airport shuttle bus to get to the conference site.

By taxi (recommended):

The journey is about one hour and costs approximately 170 RMB/car.

By airport shuttle bus:

Step 1: Take the airport shuttle bus to Hangzhou WuLinMen (about one hour, cost: 20 RMB).

Step 2: Take a taxi from WuLinMen to Zhejiang University (Zijingang Campus) (about 40 minutes, 30-40 RMB).

 

2) Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG)

If you arrive at Shanghai Pudong Airport, you may take the long-distance bus or the high-speed train to get to Hangzhou, and then take a taxi to the conference site.

By long distance bus:

PVG - Hangzhou (WuLinMen or HuangLong) - Zhejiang University (Zijingang Campus).

Step 1: Take the long-distance bus to Hangzhou (journey time: 3 hours; latest coach: 21:00; Price: 110 RMB).

Step 2: Take a taxi from Hangzhou to Zhejiang University (Zijingang Campus) or your hotel.

By high-speed train:

PVG - Hangzhou West Railway Station, Hangzhou East Railway Station, or Hangzhou Railway Station - Zhejiang University (Zijingang Campus).

Step 1: Take the Shanghai Suburban Railway Airport Link Line directly from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 station (40 minutes).

Step 2: Take the high-speed train from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to Hangzhou West Railway Station, Hangzhou East Railway Station or Hangzhou Railway Station (about 50 minutes). Tickets may be sold out on a Sunday afternoon if you buy them onsite. The latest train departs from Hongqiao Railway Station at around 21:37.

Step 3: Take a taxi at Hangzhou West Railway Station (about 15min; cost: 20 RMB), Hangzhou East Railway Station (about 40min; cost: 50 RMB), or Hangzhou Railway Station (about 40min, cost: 45 RMB) to the conference site. A public bus service (No. 93) is available from Hangzhou East Railway Station to Zhejiang University (Zijingang Campus).

 

3. Currency and Banking

The Chinese currency is RMB.

Chinese banks are typically open at 9:00 and close at 16:30 from Monday to Saturday. ATMs from several major Chinese banks are available in or near the campus. Visa, Master and other major debit/credit cards may be used. However, we recommend you to exchange the currency at the airport. 

 

4. Electricity

The standard voltage in China is 220V, 50 HZ, AC.

The outlet is three-pronged and you are recommended to bring your own adaptor.

6. Weather

Late September is a comfortable season in Hangzhou. The average temperature typically ranges from 20 to 30.

 

7. Medical Facilities

Participants who are currently on medication should bring an adequate medical supply since the medication may not be available locally. Please inform the organizers in advance should you have major medical concerns. Participants are responsible for their own expenses incurred from medical services. It is recommended that the participants obtain adequate travel, health and accident insurance before departure from their home country.
